When we left Kosciusko this morning, we met another cyclist at a gas station. We've been surprised by how few cyclists we've run into along the tour, so we always get excited crossing paths. This guy, Wyatt, was touring the entire Natchez Trace, and hammock camping along the way. When we were just starting our day, he had already put in 35 miles that morning! He said, "Well I'm gonna take an afternoon nap somewhere so I might run into you guys later." Sure enough, a few hours later when we rolled into a rest stop for lunch, there he was, relaxing in his hammock. We enjoyed getting to know each other's stories as we ate lunch. And just for your curiosity, he is a writer, he's written for the New York Times, among others. Wyatt Williams. Super cool to talk about bike touring he completed the Southern Tier tour from California-Florida! Just a couple miles down the road was Cypress Swamp. I had been looking forward to Cypress Swamp all tour, since I had googled and saw images of the boardwalk through trees sunken in water, and read that we could maybe see alligators! Well, of course it didn't look like the pictures, and we didn't spot any floating logs with nostrils... But it was still cool to see and learn about! We finally made it to Ridgeland, a northern suburb of Jackson Mississippi. I was so excited to finally be in a big city! We found a cool bike shop to get some much needed tune-ups and then hit the hay to prepare for another big day!
