Tomorrow is our LAST DAY! Can't wait to see the ocean and see my mom at the finish line!
This is our second to last day! Man, the heat was at 105 degrees today, and the roads were terrible! In the south we've noticed that road conditions are less than up to par, and now I will no longer complain that MN always has construction going on. Thankfully it was a flat ride, but bumpy and a bit perilous because we biked on the side of highways all day with 4th-of-July weekend traffic. At one stop I realized that my sleeping bag had fallen off my back rack! That's how bumpy it was. I thought wow it could have been 15 miles ago, but I started to backtrack, praying it would be within 2 miles. Sure enough, just 1/2 mile back it was there! Thank God! We drank so much liquid and hardly had to go to the bathroom because we sweat it all out. We finally made it to Laplace and enjoyed a swim. The hotel lady told us why there's so much traffic and all hotels are booked up - the Essence Festival is going on in New Orleans this weekend. I realized that one of my favorite Soca musicians that has helped me get through this whole tour was performing there and I felt so close but so far! Bummer. But this tour is way more epic ☺️ We enjoyed the college town of Baton Rouge, old homes & gorgeous old trees... Life on the road. Might sound fun eating out and staying at hotels, but I honestly can't wait to be at my own house and cook my own food!!
