Today was a bit anticlimactic. We planned to finish out the whole route and bike to the gulf, but we faced a few obstacles along the way. First of all, Dad got a flat tire only 20 miles in. We were biking up on the river levy with the sun beating down on us so we looked for a place to do some repairs. It was our first flat tire of the whole trip, which was surprising due to all of the bumps and debris on some roads! We replaced the tube, biked a few miles, then it deflated again. Tried to fill up, but then the valve broke. So we pulled over to a gas station, and then realized we were only a couple miles away from the rental car that mom had booked. See, this whole time Mom was also trying to fly here using my Delta benefits, but kept getting bumped, we were all stressed trying to stategize because we wanted her at the finish line! Dad hitched a ride with a kind man at the station, picked up the rental then picked me up with the bikes. We were only miles away from the goal but would have to finish tomorrow because bike shops are closed on Sundays. We got to our hotel, the adorable French Quarter Suites, and recouped. Finally mom made it on a flight! Dad and I explored the cute French Quarter area (on FOOT - kinda nice!) and then picked her up at 9:30pm. We had an awesome reunion and then prepared for tomorrow - the real finale!! After we get the bike repaired, we will bike the remaining 8 miles to the Gulf waters! Can't wait!
